The Project
The KMWP Project works with Landowning Partners to enact landscape scale watershed conservation efforts in the Koʻolau Mountains.
Originally founded in 1973 as a research unit within the National Park Service, the Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit (PCSU) evolved into a University of Hawaii (UH) research unit focusing on basic and applied research on biodiversity and natural resources in Hawai`i and the Pacific.

Project Staff
Our dedicated staff works in our managment areas to eliminate threats to these ecosystems including habitat-modifying invasive plants and ungulates which occur across landowner boundaries, in addition to in the community building conservation awareness.

Management Areas
The Koʻolau Mountains contain some of the most important and productive watershed forests on Oʻahu. These forests, located at or near the summit, are made up of native plant communities which have evolved to efficiently gather fresh water from the rain and clouds.
