The Koʻolau Watershed Foundation secures additional funding and support to amplify the efforts of the KMWP Project and Partners.
Founded in 2005 as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) entity, KWF was formed to provide additional support and leadership to the KMWP and other watershed conservation efforts on the island of Oʻahu. KWF secures additional private and public funds to increase the conservation and preservation impacts of KMWP.
KWF recognizes that the watershed encompassing the Koʻolau Mountains is an invaluable and critical resource for the island of Oʻahu. It must be preserved and protected since it is an integral component of the present and future water supply of the island of Oʻahu. Proper management of the forested watershed area and its native ecosystems is necessary to protect and maintain the usefulness and value of the watershed in perpetuity. However, watershed protection also encompasses proper ecosystem preservation and conservation.
The Koʻolau Watershed Foundation brings in over $250k in funding each year for the KMWP.
